At Twin Valley, Pottsville finished the season on a high note with a Berks Football League Section 1 victory.

Pottsville head coach Kevin Keating credited the victory to his team finishing drives, which is what he had been pushing for all season.

All four touchdowns came from inside the 3-yard line.

“That haunted us all year,” Keating said. “Our rushing yardage is almost as good as our opponents. Ten years ago when you do that, you’re 8-2 instead of 2-8.”

Pottsville’s other win happened at the first game of the season, before the team became riddled with injuries.

Keating said he believes if the team had remained healthy, it would have reached the playoffs.

“We had 15 kids in street clothes tonight with all serious injuries,” Keating said. “Fractures, concussions, shoulder surgeries (and) wrist surgeries. It all started at the quarterback position and Pat (Keating) had to step in as a sophomore. We just kept losing starters.”

Seniors Shawn Brennan (106) and Michael Wythe (109) each ran for more than 100 yards and a touchdown for the Crimson Tide (1-6, 2-8).

“I wanted to give it everything I had with no regrets and leave it all on the field,” Brennan said. “I’m just glad we ended on a win.”

Twin Valley (0-7, 0-10) suffered its first winless season since 2000.
