No. 3 Boston Bruins vs. No. 5 Tampa Bay Lightning
GAME 5: BOS 3 – TBL 1

BOSTON – The Bruins scored three goals again, but this time there were able to keep the lead and skate away victorious.

Simon Gagne got the Lightning on the board first just 1:09 into the game, but it would be the only goal Tampa would score on the night. The Lightning completely dominated the opening frame, out-shooting the Bruins 14-4, but could only convert on one of them. Tim Thomas once again kept the Bruins alive with his goaltending.

Boston took over the lead with a goal early and one late in the second period. Nathan Horton scored 4:24 in and Brad Marchand tallied at the 15:56 mark.

The Lightning desperately tried to tie the game, but Thomas stood tall in net. Rich Peverley sealed the win with his empty-net goal with 13 seconds remaining in the game.

Surprisingly, Mike Smith received the start in net for Tampa Bay over Dwayne Roloson.
