GAME 3: VAN 3 – SJS 4

SAN JOSE – The Sharks win their first game of the series, but after a nice, cushioned lead, they watched it quickly fade away and had to battle to hold on to the win.

The Sharks held a 3-0 lead after the first period. Patrick Marleau and Ryane Clowe both tallied on the power play and Marleau added one more before the period ended.

The lead held through the second as neither team was able to put one past the goaltenders.

The three-goal lead quickly diminished in the third. Alex Burrows got the Canucks on the board first 1:09 into the period. Dan Boyle regained the three-goal lead when he struck on the power play, but two power-play tallies for the Canucks from Dan Hamhuis and Kevin Bieksa late in the period brought the Canucks to within one.

There were tense moments for the Sharks as the time dwindled down, but the Sharks were able to hold on for the win.

NEXT GAME: Sunday at 3 p.m.
