GAME 2: BOS 6 – TBL 5

BOSTON – If you were looking for a low-scoring, goalie battle game, then Tuesday night wasn’t for you. Game 2 between the Bruins and Lightning saw a goaltending change and 11 goals scored.

It didn’t take long for the scoring to open as Adam Hall planted one past Tim Thomas 13 seconds into the opening frame. Nathan Horton evened the score on the power play, but Martin St. Louis gave the Lightning the lead back with seven ticks left in the first.

The floodgates opened in the second as six goals were scored between the two teams.

Tyler Seguin scored 48 seconds into the second period to knot the game at 2. David Krejci followed up 1:36 later before Seguin tallied his second of the night roughly four minutes after to give the Bruins a 4-2 lead.

Vincent Lecavalier notched one on the power play to bring the Lightning to within one 78 seconds after Seguin. Michael Ryder scored two, one on the power play, to bring the Bruins’ lead to 6-3.

Mike Smith came in to replace Dwayne Roloson for the start of the third. Roloson gave up 5 goals on nine shots in the second.

Don’t count the Lightning out yet. They came out blazing in the third and fired 15 shots at Thomas compared to Boston’s eight. Steven Stamkos and Dominic Moore were able to help Tampa Bay claw back to within one. Thomas and the Bruins were able to hold off a tying goal as the remaining minutes ticked away and barely escaped with the win.
