GAME 7: SJS 3 – DET 2

SAN JOSE – There’s nothing quite like a Game 7 in the NHL Playoffs. Do or die. One team advances as the other is sent packing. One team can finally get that fourth win or the other can become the fourth team in NHL history to overcome a 3-0 series deficit. These are the scenarios that faced the Sharks and Red Wings as they entered the game Tuesday night.

Unfortunately for the Red Wings, they could not make it into the history books after giving a valiant effort and fell just short.

The Sharks dominated the Red Wings in the first and they were able to go into intermission with a 2-0 lead with goals from Devin Setoguchi and Logan Couture.

Henrik Zetterberg brought the Red Wings back within one in the second period.

Patrick Marleau regained the two-goal lead in the third, but only to have it taken away again by Pavel Datsyuk 1:46 later.

There were frantic moments in the dying minutes of the game, but Antti Niemi was able to hold off the Red Wings and the Sharks will advance to the Conference Finals.
