No. 2 San Jose Sharks vs. No. 3 Detroit Red Wings
GAME 5: SJS 3 – DET 4

SAN JOSE – Never count the Red Wings out. This is the lesson the Sharks are trying to learn as they desperately try to oust the Red Wings after having a 3-0 series lead and watching it slip away.

Devin Setoguchi and Joe Pavelski got the Sharks to a 2-0 lead by 15:32 of the second, but Niklas Kronwall brought the Red Wings back to within one less than a minute after Pavelski’s goal.

Rookie Logan Couture gave the Sharks back a two-goal lead 54 seconds into the third, but the Red Wings refused to give in.

Detroit stormed back to score 3 unanswered goals in a span of 10:09 from Jonathan Ericsson, Danny Cleary and Tomas Holmstrom. The Red Wings will now return home having won the last two games.

Jimmy Howard weathered the onslaught of Sharks shots, stopping 15-of-16 in the first period to keep the Red Wings in the game. He faced 42 shots compared to 22 for Antti Niemi.
