GAME 4: SJS 3 – DET 4

DETROIT – Facing the threat of elimination, the Red Wings were able to barely squeak out a win and force a Game 5.

The Red Wings were able to get off to a 3-0 start from Todd Bertuzzi and two from Nicklas Lidstrom in the first period, but the Sharks were able to chip away and get back into the game.

Goals from Logan Couture, Dan Boyle and Dany Heatley in all three periods sent fear into Red Wings fans. But their team wasn’t going down that easily.

With 1:27 left in a game that looked to be heading into overtime, Darren Helm scored to give the Red Wings the 4-3 lead that they would hold on to and new life as they survive another day.

NEXT GAME: Sunday at 8 p.m.

SERIES: 3-1 San Jose

No. 2 Philadelphia Flyers at No. 3 Boston Bruins
GAME 4: PHI 1 – BOS 5

Milan Lucic scored his first of the playoffs in the first to give the home team the 1-0 lead in the first period, which would stand until Kris Vertseeg tied the game in the second with his first as well.

Johnny Boychuk gave the Bruins the lead again 2:42 into the third period and they never looked back. Lucic added his second and of the night with 4:57 left in the game, ending the hopes of the Flyers and their fans. Brad Marchand and Daniel Paille added empty-net goals to give the Bruins the 5-1 win and sends them to the Conference Finals.

Sergei Bobrovsky played the entire game, becoming the only Flyers goaltender to play a complete game in the series.
