Flyers forward Danny Briere was fined $1,000 Monday for throwing a punch from the bench in Sunday’s game against the New York Rangers.

Flyers General Manager Paul Holmgren was given a three-year contact extension Tuesday.

Briere will be joining Claude Giroux at the NHL All-Star Game. He will be replacing Calgary’s Jarome Iginla.

Joonas Lehtivuori, who was sent to a Finnish team the previous week by the Phantoms, took a few shots at the Phantoms coach and the town of Glen Falls in an interview with a paper in Finland. You can find some of it translated by Teemu H.

Phantoms’ Zac Rinaldo was suspended for two games Wednesday after his actions in the game against the Hershey Bears.

Greenville’s Blake Parlett and Marc-Olivier Vallerand have been added to the ECHL All-Star roster. Parlett will replace Julien Brouillette, who has been called up to Lake Erie of the AHL, and Vallerand will replace Brendan Connolly, who is currently injured.
