Islanders busy on Day 2

The New York Islanders got their hands in the mix on the second day of the free agent frenzy by signing multiple players.

Defenseman Mark Eaton was signed to a two-year deal.  Eaton has spent the last four years with the Pittsburgh Penguins.  He has also played for the Nashville Predators and Philadelphia Flyers.

Eaton notched 16 points (3 goals, 13 assists) last season for the Penguins.  He added 7 points (4 goals, 3 assists) in the Penguins’ run to the Cup in 2009.

Defenseman Milan Jurcina signed a one-year deal.

Jurcina has played the majority of his NHL career with the Washington Capitals.  Last season he posted 7 points (1 goal, 6 assists) with the Capitals and Columbus Blue Jackets.

Left wing PA Parenteau signed a one-year deal with the Islanders.

Parenteau played on the New York Rangers last season and scored 3 goals and 5 assists for 8 points.  He also went 3-for-3 in the shootout.
